For much of its history, the stately home of Apple Kurfürstendamm was a theater known as Filmbühne Wien. The space once held 850 seats and Café des Westens. In the 1970s and 1980s, multiple renovations added seven additional small screens and altered much of the building’s original character.

After the theater closed in 2000, the building fell into partial disuse before Apple restored the facade, renovated the interior, and opened Apple Kurfürstendamm in 2013. A plaque detailing the theater’s history was later installed outside the store.
